mEDO 2026 has ended
Friday July 17, 2026 1:00pm - 1:55pm PDT
Description:
Roughly 1 in 5 people are hypermobile and 1 in 25 have hypermobility spectrum disorder. Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is the most common subtype of EDS, and being hypermobile has a significant overlap with having an eating disorder or having GI symptoms that may lead to food avoidance. There are many long-term complications of being hypermobile that can be mitigated if recognized and managed when symptoms are mild, including mast cell activation and POTS. Some of these co-occurring conditions can also mimic eating disorder behaviors but require medical treatment rather than continuing to eat past them, and we'll discuss strategies for recognizing this.

Learning Objectives:
1. Recognize/diagnose hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD) and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS)
2. Recognize/Manage multi-system complications of HSD/hEDS
3. Know how to find additional resources on HSD/hEDS.
